If your name is really Stevie Ray Vaughan like it says on your profile, that has got to be the most ironic thing ever, especially if you’re into his music. You really might be the next Stevie Ray Vaughan, you can’t help it :)

awesome video, helped me out cause I was wondering how to do that. People need to stop asking for tabs, just watch the video and copy it, and practice it.

    Huh?

Voodoo Chile and Voodoo Child are 2 names for the same song. The “Chile” was a mis-spelling on the album printing that was allowed to stay. The Star Spangled Banner played in a different tempo is still the Star Spangled Banner…

Ah – I think I know what you are talking about: Voodoo Chile blues. That was a jam session recording with Jimi, some of the experience and Steve Winwood. Its a completely different song, but does include a couple similar elements.

No… you are incorrect. The first version was Voodoo Child, recorded with bass legend Jack Cassidy, who Jimmy ran into on one of his infamous nights of energetic partying at a local bar. They ran back to Electric Ladyland studios, recorded it, then Jimmy later rerecorded a better version with the Experience, Noel Redding on bass this time. He dubbed this more succinct version Voodoo ‘Chile’ slight return.

It is listed that way on a couple albums, so maybe the people printing the album art are incorrect.

This is mostly true, but Jimi switched to Gibson’s really late in his career, but most people don’t copy his tone from that era anyway…

You know its funny, on an 8-track of one of his albums I have the song is Voodoo CHILD. All these people saying “Chile’” Are incorrect.

bro i didn’t mean that you need a high quality guitar like GIBSON, FENDER or maybe Washburn ok cause these are the best guitars in the world….!!!!

Goddamm. Stevie AND Jimi did’t play gibsons. And this is the correct sound. But not exactly the same because then you are a supid clone!!!

  22. areeb67 says:

    December 22nd, 2008 at 5:40 am

you definitely need a gibson guitar for that..!!

I got to admit, I had to do a little research, and it looks like the song was originally called Voodoo Chile, and evolved into Voodoo Child. There’s a version on the “Blues” album called Voodoo Chile Blues, and it’s also labeled Voodoo Chile on the Woodstock album, but the (Slight Return) version is definitely called Voodoo Child on his Greatest Hits.
