Here is an acoustic guitar lesson of Knockin On Heavens Door originally by Bob Dylan, but has also been covered by Guns n Roses and many others. This lesson is by James from the acoustic covers duo “Handsome Alvin”, check out our covers of this and other songs at:

    James, just to clarify…it’s dudette? LOL!I am doing great. Fingers are getting up to speed & once I master the dexterity in my right hand fingers I’m just about there.
    It looks like you’re really doing something right, doesn’t it? Viewers/listeners are pretty happy with your lessons. Big thumbs up from me again. =)

    Thanks so much for these videos. You are making my life easy again. I’m relearning to play after having a brain aneurysm & I wasn’t sure I was even going to be able to play again, but thanks to your videos & talking me thru’ the tunes, I’m playing Knockin’ On Heavens Door & Let It Be.

    i tried to follow bob dylans original and after a while, i got it. although i have still to practice, it sounds good ;) thanks

    Depends on which original you are trying to play with, Dylan is always recording stuff in different keys (and he uses a slightly different strum anyway) and the Guns n Roses version is tunned a half step down. Start by just strumming the first chord of each bar and then slowly put in the rest of the strum pattern.

    Thank you very much (from Argentina) for this video tutorial.
    It makes this song easy to be played. I could at last get the strumming pattern

    Practice, practice and more practice, that is all it is. You should also try my beginner version of Let It Be, it is also a good starting song.
