yea, also a lot of players (especially a lot of blues players) believe that you get a better tone out of using the third finger instead of the pinkie

I’m new to scales, but I believe the traditional way to play the Dorian Mode you use your pinkie for those notes way out there. Not your third finger. At least in the first position.
Most other scales like a Triad or Arpeggio seam to be the same going down the neck very often. I’m assuming the Dorion mode is the same. It may not be though.
Some like the power of their third finger and only use their pinkie when they have to.

so you would use dorian licks over a jazz progression because of the two chord?

If you use the third finger, you’ll never get enough stamina in the fourth finger to play more complex runs. The third finger only get more flow, because people are unable to use the fourth finger.

so ur pretty much sayin thats not good?…for pentatonic licks most ppl use 3 fingers cuz its got more flow to it for those kinds of licks..sry to burst ur bubble

Use the fourth finger!!!! Or you’ll ever get good.
