those are medium gauge strings, the tinny sound can depend a lot of time on where you strum on the neck and also how you hold the pick, thanks for the comment man ill take a look at trying that in the future

Nice Alvarez. I have the AJ-60sc and a Yairi DY84C. Alvarez makes great guitars. Check this out though. Puts some heavy gauge strings on that thing and get rid of that tinny sound. Just a thought. It made the total difference in both of mine.
