the 05 custom i like a tad better coz i like the crunch. the 92 sounds a little more rounder. i like crunch

Here’s a real test that will dispel any myths or rumors: Swap the pickups on the guitars and do a sound test. Take it one step further and bypass the tone controls. I bet that will prove it’s all in the pickups.

Cool demo. I like the mellowness of the 92. It just sounds smooth to me.

The 92 has a much more rounded sound to it, and the higher notes were easier to discern. The 02 has a more angular sound with the high notes sounding jangly. I agree with Nigel, the 92 over all sounded better to me.

The 92 is better on clean, but the 05 rocks on distortion!!!

id say most of the differences are coming from the fact that the 05 has a maple top and the 92 has a mahogany top. also the ’57′s are brighter sounding that the 490/498′s

The 05 sounds more hot to me, while the 90s sounds smoother, almost more drowned down tone. I’d say the variation is mainly in the pickups?
That said, great video. I happen to prefer the 05 sound though

not necessarily, sometimes it’s just a collector’s thing. But many times and the wood ages the sound vibrates through the guitar better, but if the guitar wasn’t constructed well, it will sound worse than a new guitar. But if everything in the guitar is constructed fine, it will probably sound better.

i prefer the 92 les paul on the clean channel at the end, but overall i prefer the 05 instead for its brightness xD

I read where Jimmy Page said an older guitar that has been played is best. something about the vibrations though the wood. He played a 50′s paul that had almost never been touched and he said it sounded terrible. I have a ’77 stat that has everything replaced but the body. still kills a new USA strat IHMO.
Let you ears be the judge, but judge the same type of guitar.

i like the sunburst best not beacouse of it fine looks but the sound has moore bite i think
