everyone at first who plays slide doesnt seem to understand the muting with the right hand. seems difficult at first but you just gotta get the FEEL of slide and youll start to do it naturally. slide is a lost art man. its such a beautiful thing. glad your carryin’ it on man.

It was a Les Paul…..a 1961 SG body style Les Paul that was given to him by Betts that Duane use exclusively for slide

The Famous recording of SBB that most hear is from the “Live At Filmore East” concert. Duane is playing a deep colored Les Paul. I have seen Dickey play SBB on an SG. But the recording of SBB that is most often heard is indeed on a Les Paul.

Duane played SBB on an SG with high action….given to him by Dickey….

Sounds like he is playing through a 100W head.

Duane played it through a 50W head with the overdrive maxed to get that crunching electric sound. Also, Duanes “Phrasing” is more of a saxaphone. Where this gentlemans is more of a lead player. Thus his sounding more like Derek Trucks. That and him and DTrucks both us SG’s, and Duane played a Les Paul. Just my $0.02

    Really nice playing.
Your technique is a little more Derek Trucks than Duane but still great. *****

Thanks for the info! Glad you know what I was referring to regarding the the ‘digital clogging’ sound. John Fogarty’s sound got me to remove all my sound processors to a bare minimum to keep pure… Happy playing man!

The tone is not my usual setup. Just a quick record for a little better audio. That is a 57 through a 002 right on the grille.

My usual setup sm7 through la-610 off axis about a foot off combined with room mic.

Mic placement will give you drastic different sounds. combine with a room mic and you’ll get the sound. However for this video I was lazy and it was early in the morning! Oh well.

I love it! However, the amplification does not sound ‘analog’ enough… Do you have a lot of digital sound processors pumping through? I would like to hear this same like without all the muckymuk.

Im impressed, but I believe you could do a few minor thing to improve this. You almost sound just like Duane. Listen to the song a little more closely. It’s the small thing your missing.

Graymalkin,(“Doogie” per your profile?) I’ll respond anyway: The “dot, dot, dot” is an “ellipsis”, used correctly, especially after 5-6 beers: “Ellipsis”, from Greek ἔλλειψις “omission”= marks indicating intentional omission of words or phrases, a pause in speech, unfinished thought & at the end of a sentence, trailing off into silence.

Get it Doogie? Good music is good, bad isn’t. BTW, your comment isn’t even a sentence! 10-4? From here, I’m silent.
